Portable PR & Macmillan Cancer Support

From here to maternity

Having been contracted to cover the maternity leave for the Communications Manager with Macmillan Cancer Support, Portable PR turned to newsdirect to provide a daily monitoring service covering health campaign themes and cancer policy issues. The issues of prescription charges, hospital parking charges and the availability of travel insurance to cancer victims were high on the political and media agenda at that time. Our daily updates allowed Portable PR to scan the breaking news of the day and assess whether a PR response was necessary. Our political and forward planning reports were also used to schedule and plan communications and advocacy work in the Scottish Parliament. Through the use of our monitoring service, Portable PR was able to reduce the overall contract cost to the client charity, while ensuring that it was never out of touch with what was happening in the news and the Scottish Parliament.
